Nova Roma Gallia news

Salvete Omnes,

The end of 2006 and the beginning of 2007 were rich in important events.

The Senate appointed P Memmius Albucius propraetor of Gallia on the 23rd of November 2006 by a uninamous decision, the first in provincial history.

His first decisions followed after a short time, with the modification of Gallia organization (Edictum 59-37) and the appointment of a Legate for regio Celtica (Edit 59-38).

The annual elections have also honored Gallia by electing our governor as quaestor of curule aedile Iulia Cytheris Aege.

This was followed by the first meeting of the Gallia Propretorian Council, held in Lutetia (Paris) on Friday, Jan. 16, 2007. This first meeting was planned with L. Rutilius Minervalis and G. Iulius Lateranus during the meeting in Paris on the 7th and 8th of december 2006.

.

The Council (Consilium Propaetoris) then convened with P Memmius Albucius, praefectus Sextus Apollonius Scipio and legate Lucius Rutilius Minervalis. Gaius Iulius Lateranus was absent with excuse.

Without betraying the secrets of the meeting, the counsel stated its will (which was not lost during the past difficulties) to breath the life back into the province. They also affirmed their belief that imagination and ambition are essential and have launched several large projects.

The next physical meeting of the Propraetorian Council is scheduled for the 23rd of February in Lutetia. The meeting will be prepared by an interim meeting.

Friends and citizens of Gallia, the dawn is coming!

Lucius Rutilius Minervalis
